Solar CCTV tower and Intelligent Traffic Solutions specialist WJ Sunstone has rebranded and renamed its technology portfolio, creating a clearer and more consistent range of solutions designed to make it easier for highways operators and contractors to understand the technologies available and how they can support safer, smarter and more connected roads.

The Staffordshire and Kent-based refreshed portfolio strengthens the WJ Sunstone brand and gives customers a simpler way to navigate the range, understand the benefits of each solution and identify the right technology for their requirements.

The updated portfolio brings WJ Sunstone’s intelligent traffic, surveillance, detection, communications and off-grid power technologies under a simplified naming structure. The solutions can be used across temporary and longer-term highway applications, either independently or combined to provide a wider approach to surveillance, detection, communications and power.

Within the intelligent traffic portfolio, TASCAR (Temporary Automatic Speed Cameras) provides a flexible approach to temporary speed enforcement, while AVERA (Active Vehicle Event Recognition Alerts) is
designed to identify vehicle events and provide alerts to support operational awareness.

WJ Sunstone also offers Stopped Vehicle Detection, helping to identify vehicles that have stopped within monitored areas, and Rapid ANPR Mobile Cameras, providing automatic number plate recognition without the need for a traditional fixed installation.

The company’s solar-powered surveillance systems now sit within the Detect portfolio. This includes Detect, previously known as ARC, alongside Detect-R, previously Raft, and Detect-S, previously SICS. The Detect systems can be integrated with CCTV, radar and ANPR, allowing solutions to be configured according to the requirements of individual highway applications.

Tom Howarth, Head of WJ Sunstone, said:

“We have a broad range of trusted, high-quality technologies that solve very different challenges, and we wanted to make it much simpler for customers to understand what each solution does, where it can be used and how the different technologies can work together.

“The rebrand gives the portfolio a stronger and more consistent identity, while the new names are designed to make the role and benefits of each solution clearer. Importantly, while the names have changed, the quality, reliability and expertise behind the solutions remain the same. Customers can continue to rely on the technology and performance they know from WJ, now with a simpler and more connected portfolio to navigate.”
