Work to turn the A9 south of Inverness between Tomatin and Moy is moving on with realignment works taking place at various sections along the route.
The project has experienced something of a chequered history since it was re-tendered in 2023 because the only bid stood at £170 million – far in excess of the orginal £115 million budget, however current estimates put the cost of the project at £308 million.
This latest work is to prepare the area for culvert installations as part of dualling construction work whilst also widening the road and installing updated road markings.
Road users will be stopped at the temporary traffic lights and be led through the works by convoy at a reduced speed limit. Once a road user has passed the temporary traffic lights, they can continue their journey at the signposted speed limit.
These works will be carried out at various locations over the 5 week period between Moy Rail Bridge and the start of the dual carriageway, approximately 1.5 miles south of the B815 turn off to Fort Augustus.
