TUAL, the developer of ultra-deployable charging solutions for commercial electric vehicles, has announced the rollout of its PowerUp Charger technology across three key SP Energy Networks sites, following a successful pilot at Middlewich in Cheshire.
The deployment will see TUAL’s battery-buffered PowerUp Charger technology used across SP Energy Networks operational locations in Middlewich, Liverpool and Cambuslang near Glasgow – supporting the electrification of high-utilisation, operationally critical fleet vehicles in locations where conventional charging could be constrained by the likes of site use, lease arrangements or wider infrastructure and development considerations.
TUAL’s PowerUp Charger combines integrated battery energy storage with high-power DC charging, drawing and storing energy from available grid supply before delivering ultra-rapid charging to vehicles when required.
The system makes it faster and easier to deploy ultra-rapid DC charging capability, ultimately supporting the expansion of electric vehicle fleets, without compromising operational resilience – essential for energy network operators and other critical responders.
For SP Energy Networks, operational requirements meant that ultra-rapid DC charging was needed to minimise any downtime and maximise vehicle productivity, with charging sessions required to fit within 30-minute dwell periods during breaks and re-stock visits.

It was a no-brainer to build on the success of our trial by rolling-out this innovative technology to these three key locations.”
