Participants in next month’s JCT Traffic Signals Symposium in Nottingham have spoken about how they can’t wait to get back to doing what they love and meeting industry colleagues face to face.
The Symposium is one of the first to be held in person since the Coronavirus pandemic, with two days of knowledge sharing and exhibitions and two nights of networking over food and drink to look forward to.
“We can’t wait to get back to doing what we love; talking to our clients and other experts in the industry,” said Andrew Walker, Business Development Manager at SWARCO TRAFFIC Ltd. “The JCT Symposium is always a date we look forward to in our event calendar, but this year will be even more special. JCT is truly an all-round event, from being able to get together with our peers in the industry at the SWARCO-sponsored drinks reception to discussing the benefits of our work through our Paper and actually being able to demonstrate our latest solutions, such as MyCity, in person.”
The networking aspect of the event was echoed by Yunex Traffic’s Marketing Director Matthew Vincent who said, “We are very much looking forward to JCT this year. Not only does it mark a welcome and long overdue opportunity to meet up again in person, it will be our very first event as Yunex Traffic, the new name for Siemens Mobility’s Intelligent Traffic Systems business. I am sure there will be lots of new developments and innovative ideas to talk about this year, but it’s the catching up with industry colleagues over a drink at the Yunex Traffic Gala Dinner that I am particularly looking forward to!”
The JCT Traffic Signals Symposium takes place at Nottingham Trent University on the 15 and 16 September, with the MOVA User Group and first social event taking place the day before. Although it is an in-person event with a major focus on networking and socialising, the organisers are making it as Covid-safe as possible with a number of measures to minimise risk including hosting much of the evening reception in a large heated beer tent outside.
“The informal networking and social side of JCT has always been a huge part of the Symposium and enjoyed by all,” added Helen Blood of Clearview Intelligence, “But after being starved of face-to-face contact over the past 18 months, it’s going to be even more important and welcome this year.”
The value of the high-quality papers is also being supported by exhibitors, with SRL’s Kevin Gilday adding, “We will be there, we hope you will be too, because there is lots to talk about, lots to catch up on, and lots to show. We also have a paper about ‘Narrowing the Divide’ between the temporary and permanent traffic signals worlds to get ready for the vehicles and technology of the future – would be great to see you there.”
