Mayor of London Sir Sadiq Khan has announced that bus and tram passengers in London will be able to travel all day at weekends for the price of a single fare during the summer holidays. Between 25 July and 31 August on weekends, the hour limit price of £1.75 will extend to all day.
The offer extends the existing Hopper fare, introduced in 2016, which allows unlimited bus and tram transfers within one hour for a single payment, says the BBC.
Transport for London (TfL) has said more than a billion Hopper journeys have been made since its launch. City Hall claimed the scheme was intended to help with the cost of living and encourage greater use of public transport.
It said a family making several trips on a weekend day could see a noticeable reduction in travel costs, though it did not provide a figure.
Three buses on routes 23, 49 and 295 have been decorated with frog-themed designs to publicise the Hopper promotion.
