Cumberland Council is informing residents and road users that planned bridge strengthening works on the C2030 at Ullock Bridge, have been postponed.

The scheme, which had been due to start on 2 November 2026, would have involved strengthening the bridge through the installation of a reinforced concrete saddle, helping to ensure the structure remains safe and reliable for years to come.

Following further discussions with local stakeholders and consideration of other works taking place in the area, Cumberland Council has decided to defer the scheme to help minimise disruption for residents, businesses and road users.

As a result, the planned road closure on the C2030 at Ullock Bridge will no longer commence on 2 November 2026.

The bridge strengthening works remain an important part of the council’s highway maintenance programme and are now expected to be rescheduled for early next year. A revised start date will be announced once arrangements have been finalised.

Cumberland Council appreciates that this change has been made at short notice and apologises for any inconvenience this may cause. The council would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience and understanding while the scheme is reprogrammed.

The improvements form part of the council’s £27.3 million investment in maintaining and improving the local highway network, helping to ensure vital infrastructure remains safe, resilient and fit for the future.
