Major highways works completed in Burton

A major highways improvement scheme to resurface the A511 Horninglow Road North in Burton has been completed.

Highways crews from Staffordshire County Council finished the £900,000 scheme on Sunday 3 March.

In addition to the reconstruction and resurfacing of the road, crews also took the opportunity to update drainage systems, kerbing and ironwork along with repairs to some of the footpaths.

The works are phase one of a larger project which will see further improvements on the road near to the Derby Turn Roundabout and between Dover Road and Kitling Greaves Lane including the Calais Road junction.

The scheme is part of a wider £6 million investment by the county council in Burton’s roads over the next two years.

David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council said: “It’s great news to get yet another scheme in the town completed on time and within budget.

“This is only one scheme in a major £6 million investment in burton over the next two years and there’s more schemes to follow.  I’m sure drivers will notice the difference in the road, and I would like to thank them for their co-operation during the works.

“We know how important good roads are for people which is why the county council is investing around £50 million across the county over the next three years.”
