Shropshire: 90 roads earmarked for resurfacing

Shropshire Council has announced more than 90 stretches of road in Shropshire are set to be resurfaced in the coming months, with a further 71 stretches oset to be surface dressed this spring and summer.

The work, which will be carried out for the council by Kier, means more than 160 roads are set to be treated in the coming months, with the 92 sites chosen for resurfacing having been identified by “experienced highways officers”.

“Improving our roads and making them safer for all road users is one of our top priorities,” commented David Vasmer, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and environment. “Our annual resurfacing and surface dressing programmes are a really important part of this and represent a significant investment in the roads across the county.

“This year’s programmes to improve our roads will greatly improve more than 160 stretches of road across Shropshire, and help to prevent potholes and other problems occurring in the future.

“I’m sure the work will be welcomed by people who use these roads and I thank people for their patience and understanding while this important work is carried out.”
