Traffic sensor technology company smartmicro has launched a new online Product Selection Guide designed to help engineers and system integrators identify suitable sensors and product combinations for traffic management schemes.

Available through the company’s website, the tool guides users through a series of questions about their project, including the intended application, detection requirements, coverage area and preferred technology approach. It then provides tailored product recommendations in less than a minute.

The guide is aimed at traffic engineers, integrators and other industry professionals who know what they need a system to achieve but are looking for help identifying the most appropriate sensor configuration to meet those requirements.

The questionnaire considers whether a project would benefit from a single sensor or a multi-sensor deployment, as well as whether a radar-only or hybrid solution is most appropriate. The recommendations are intended to provide a structured starting point before more detailed system design takes place.

“Selecting the right sensing technology is often one of the first and most important decisions in a traffic management project, but there are many variables to consider,” explained Peter Eccleson, Managing Director of smartmicro UK. “We wanted to create a simple tool that helps engineers quickly narrow down the options based on their operational requirements, saving time while giving them confidence they’re starting from the right place. It’s about making the selection process more straightforward and helping customers get to an informed solution faster.”

The company says the guide has been developed to support users across a range of traffic management applications by matching project requirements with suitable smartmicro products or combinations of products.

The Product Selection Guide is available through the smartmicro website and produces recommendations after users answer a series of project-specific questions, covering application type, detection needs, sensor deployment and technology preferences.
