Warwickshire County Council has published its newly updated Local Highways Maintenance Transparency Report, providing residents and businesses with a comprehensive look at how the county’s vast transport network is maintained, managed, and funded. 

​The report highlights the scale of the maintenance work required across the county, outlining the council’s ongoing strategy to ensure roads, footways, and other highway assets remain safe and accessible. 

Cllr Stephen Shaw, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning, said: 

“Our highways network is fundamental to the daily lives of everyone in Warwickshire. We know our residents expect safe, reliable and well-maintained roads, and they rightly expect us to be transparent about how we are investing the funds available to us and to make every pound we spend work for us. 

“This Transparency Report sets out the reality of managing a complex, aging network and doing so whatever the weather and during periods of high traffic volumes. By taking a proactive, risk-based approach, we are intervening intelligently to prioritise our resources, extend the lifespan of our infrastructure, and targeting our funding sensibly to deliver the very best value for money for residents. 

“The timely publication of this report has an extra benefit of ensuring that we do not lose a proportion of our national funding from the Department for Transport.” 

​The report forms part of the council’s ongoing commitment to transparency and strategic decision-making, ensuring that public investment delivers the best possible outcomes for communities across the county.
