As Europe continues to advance towards smarter and more sustainable transport systems, understanding expert perspectives is essential to shaping the future of transport infrastructures.

The 3/2026 edition of the Smart Transportation Alliance’s Expert Perception Tracker explores the topic of construction and sustainability in the EU’s transport sector, examining sustainability priorities, infrastructure maintenance, sustainability as a factor influencing travel behaviour, and the potential of AI-supported modelling tools to deliver measurable sustainability benefits throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.

Through a short, 1-minute survey designed to capture sentiment and qualitative insights on key topics, transport professionals are invited to share their perspectives on the topics of construction and sustainability.

As usual, the findings will be analysed and published in a short report, providing a fresh snapshot of expert perspectives on one of the key themes shaping Europe’s transport systems. The survey will remain open until 31 July 2026 and the results will be published in early August.
