JCT launches new website for its popular Traffic Signals Symposium and announces exciting keynote speakers

The traffic consultancy JCT is making it easier for the industry to get the most from its annual Traffic Signals Symposium with a new website.  It has also announced Rory Sutherland and Pete Dyson as its first speakers for the 2023 event.

The Symposium takes place in Nottingham every September, bringing together professionals from across the traffic management and control industries for a learned programme in which experts detail groundbreaking projects and ideas, and an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations.  There is also extensive networking including an evening barbecue and a gala dinner.

The new dedicated bespoke website is separate to JCT’s main consultancy and software development site and gives users much more functionality to interact with the event and its content.  It features the ability to view and download papers and see video content from previous events plus submit paper proposals for 2023, book places and get information on exhibitors.  There are also commercial pages detailing everything from sponsorship opportunities to the logistics of bringing in exhibition materials.

This year’s keynotes are leading experts in behavioural science, who will be presenting on aspects of their book Transport for Humans: Are we nearly there yet?  Rory Sutherland, who is Vice Chairman of Ogilvy UK and co-founder of its Behavioural Science Practice is also the author of Alchemy: The Surprising Power of Ideas that Don’t Make Sense, and is a columnist for The Spectator’s Wiki Man column, who has also presented several series for BBC Radio 4.  Pete Dyson is a researcher at University of Bath, who is former Principal Behavioural Scientist at Department for Transport and Senior Consultant at Ogilvy UK.  Those who have seen them present before will remember them – both are extremely interesting, amusing and engaging speakers.

More details of the event will be published in the weeks and months to come.  Would-be speakers can pitch their paper ideas here and bookings for places (including a three-for-two and one-day only offers) can be made here.

This year’s Symposium takes place on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 September at Nottingham Trent University, with the MOVA User Group and welcome barbecue the day before.
