Knowsley Council’s cabinet approves two-year highways maintenance and improvement programme

Knowsley Council’s Cabinet has approved a two-year programme of works and maintenance to deliver improvements to the borough’s highway network for both 2024/25 and 2025/26.

Last year, Knowsley Council approved plans to enter into a Grant Funding Agreement with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to secure total funding of £29.19 million over five years. More information on this is available here.

To allow for greater planning of works and flexibility, the Council has developed a two-year programme of works. This will avoid works having to be undertaken in poor weather conditions and also allow greater time for preparation works, such as procuring design consultants, producing designs and undertaking consultations.

The programme will cover all aspects of highways works, including road and footway maintenance, vehicle restraint barrier maintenance, structures and drainage, local safety schemes, parking management and sustainable travel.

The accompanying 2024/25 Highway Asset Management Revenue Programme was also approved.
