The industry association for transport technology, Intelligent Transport Systems UK (ITS UK) has announced Simon Lightwood MP, Minister of State for Local Transport, as the keynote speaker at this year’s ITS UK President’s Dinner and Awards, taking place on 21 October 2025 at Church House, Westminster.
Mr Lightwood is responsible for local transport policy across buses, taxis, light rail and active travel, as well as decarbonisation and the development of the Integrated National Transport Strategy. He spoke to the Highways Voices podcast recently, which you can listen to here.
The President’s Dinner and Awards is one of ITS UK’s flagship annual events, bringing together leaders from across the intelligent transport sector for an evening of celebration and networking. The event is hosted by ITS UK’s President and former Transport Minister, Steve Norris, and showcases the very best in transport technology, with 17 award categories recognising individuals, projects and organisations from across the industry.
Max Sugarman, Chief Executive of ITS UK, said: “We are delighted to welcome Minister Lightwood to this year’s President’s Dinner and Awards. His portfolio aligns closely with several of the priorities our sector can deliver on—decarbonisation, connectivity, and integrated transport. Hearing his thoughts at our flagship event will be a real highlight for what promises to be a fantastic evening.”
It will also see the winners announced of the annual ITS UK Awards. Award entries are now open, and are free to submit for all ITS UK members and public sector organisations. Entrants can nominate themselves or others across a range of categories, including Connected and Automated Mobility, Better Safety through Technology, and Startup or Scaleup of the Year.
