Pilot Group acquires urban driving environment division of VMS

The Manchester-based sustainable technology solutions firm Pilot Group has acquired the ‘urban driving environment’ division of Hill & Smith signage-systems firm Variable Message Signs.

The Pilot Group says the deal sees it “further strengthen its traffic control systems portfolio and enhance its broad offering of industry-leading smart traffic control solutions.”

VMS’s Urban division supplies a range of LED light technology solutions, in fixed and mobile configurations.

Simone Peppi, COO and co-founder of Pilot Group, said, “The acquisition of the urban driving environment division of VMS from Hill & Smith gives Pilot Group an even better, best-in-class offering of traffic control solutions for our customers.  This division is a complement to our existing product and service portfolio and comes at a time when smart urban road management has never been more important.”

She added, “Ensuring that our urban infrastructure operates smoothly, efficiently, safely and in a way that helps minimise traffic’s impact on the environment is essential if our built-environments are to continue to function for all of us all. Pilot Group is proud to be at the cutting-edge of developing new products and services that help that need become a reality.”
