The organisers of the 2029 ITS World Congress in Taipei, Taiwan, have signed up to exhibit at next year’s Congress in Birmingham, putting pen to paper on the opening day of this year’s event in Gangneung, South Korea.

The agreement was formally signed by Shih-Yuan Tseng, President of ITS Taiwan and Shih-Bin Lin, Deputy Secretary General Taipei City Government, alongside Jasvinder Sidhu, ERTICO Commercial Partners and Exhibition Lead marking an important step in strengthening international collaboration between successive ITS World Congress hosts.

The agreement adds to the growing international presence being assembled for the 33rd ITS World Congress at Birmingham’s NEC from 25–29 October 2027.

The Traveller Information Services Association (TISA) has also confirmed its participation, with Stephanie Chaufton, Senior Co-ordinator and Matthias Unbehaun, Executive Director, TISA, will offer its members the opportunity to participate as part of its stand. The association brings together organisations developing traffic and travel information standards and services, supporting the exchange of reliable information across transport networks.

Companies already signed up include SWARCO, Kapsch, PTV (part of Umovity), Jenoptik, Toyota, Arup, Yunex Traffic and Honda. They will be joined by representatives of ITS associations from Australia, America, Asia Pacific and the Nordic countries.

For exhibitors, the NEC layout places the exhibition at the heart of the Congress experience, connecting delegates with the high-level policy programme, technical sessions, ITS Arena, live demonstrations and networking opportunities.

The integrated layout is designed to encourage movement through the exhibition, creating repeated opportunities for exhibitors to engage with international decision-makers, government representatives, transport authorities, policymakers and industry leaders throughout the event.

The proximity of the exhibition, sessions and demonstrations will make it easy for delegates to move between discussing transport challenges, meeting suppliers and seeing innovative technologies in action.

“These commitments demonstrate the international momentum building behind Birmingham 2027. Bringing together future Congress hosts, industry associations and leading technology companies creates valuable opportunities for collaboration, business development and the exchange of knowledge across the global ITS community.” Jasvinder Sidhu, ERTICO – ITS Europe

The latest commitments build on what ERTICO – ITS Europe and local host Transport for West Midlands have previously described as a strong early response to the event. At the ITS European Congress in April, organisers reported a “remarkable level of early commitment”, with organisations securing stands around 18 months before the Congress.

Under the theme “Connect Ideas. Transform Transport.”, Birmingham 2027 will bring the ITS World Congress back to the UK for the first time since London hosted it in 2006.

Hosted by the UK Government, led by the Department for Transport, and locally hosted by the West Midlands Combined Authority through Transport for West Midlands, the Congress is organised by ERTICO – ITS Europe in collaboration with the European Commission and co-organised by ITS America and ITS Asia-Pacific.

The event is expected to attract more than 15,000 participants from over 100 countries, bringing together governments, cities, transport authorities, researchers and industry leaders involved in shaping transport policy, investment, procurement and deployment.

Exhibition and partnership opportunities remain available for Birmingham 2027. With international demand for exhibition space continuing to grow, organisations are encouraged to secure their preferred stand locations before the current standard rate ends on 2 November 2026.
