Amazon’s ring offers car security

Amazon’s doorbell security company Ring is launching a range of products specifically designed for cars.

Its product the Ring Car Alarm is designed to protect the car by sending an alert immediately to the Ring app when it detects an event, such as a bump, break-in, tow-away or an attempt to open the door. The company says when users receive the alert they can quickly check the last-known location of the vehicle and take action by triggering the built-in siren.

It says its Car Cam “takes car security a step further” so that when a car is parked, uses dual-facing HD cameras to send users a live view and check-in on what’s happening in and around the vehicle from anywhere over WiFi or mobile internet.

Furthermore for newer cars it automatically integrates interior and exterior cameras into their design to “bring customers peace of mind for things like back-up assist, blind spot notification and more”. It says Ring Car Connect, an API for car manufacturers, brings customers this information right to their Ring app.
