Galliford Try gets multiple spots on £300m road surfacing framework

Galliford Try and Colas are among 15 contractors that have been selected for work on road surfacing projects in Yorkshire.

The firms scooped spots on the £300m four-year framework, with Galliford Try involved in three lots.

The framework will focus on road-surfacing and planning in up to nine local authority areas in Yorkshire, reports Construction News.

Work could include recycling, patching, overlays, reconstruction and resurfacing roads. NY Highways, a fully-owned subsidiary of North Yorkshire Council, is running the framework, reports Construction News.

The framework is divided into four lots, with Galliford Try selected for the first three. Lot one will be for work worth up to £500,000, while the second lot will cover work valued at between £500,000 and £2m. Lot three includes jobs worth between £2m and £6m.

Colas, meanwhile, took a spot on lot four, which focuses on recycling and other activities including kerbing, minor drainage and ironworks.

Calderdale, Bradford, Wakefield, York, Kirklees, Leeds and East Riding of Yorkshire are among the other local authorities able to access the services provided through the framework.

NY Highways initially said it would name up to 10 contractors on each lot. Ten were named on lots one, two and threebut only seven firms on the fourth lot.

Galliford Try is one of the biggest contractors working in the roads sector. In 2022/23, it was the eighth-largest recipient of spending from National Highways, said the report.
