The event in Leicestershire, sponsored by Clearview Intelligence, brought together local authorities, central government and the supply chain for two days of industry updates and informed debate along with a sizeable exhibition and two nights of networking, sponsored by Yunex Traffic and AECOM.
As well as eight updates on policy from Department for Transport officials, ranging from digital traffic regulation orders and transport data to cyber security and Artificial Intelligence, the conference involved several case studies from local authorities. This included Portsmouth’s innovative use of existing data to drive a more efficient network, Bath and North East Somerset detailing maintenance ideas in the face of significant financial challenges, and Rotherham explaining how money from the Traffic Signals Obsolescence Grant improved travel, energy and future readiness in the area.
This year’s conference featured 300 delegates, including 18 senior officials from the Department for Transport and more than half of English local highway authorities outside London represented.
There was also a major exhibition featuring sponsors Clearview, AECOM and Yunex Traffic with Aimsun, AppyWay, Brightly Software, Castle Surveys, COEVAL, Indra Systems, Messagemaker Displays, NAL, Rennicks, RTEM, smartmicro, SRL Traffic Systems, Starling Technologies, SWARCO, TagMaster UK, Teledyne FLIR, Telraam, Teragence, TRL, TWM Traffic Control, Vaisala, Vianova and Westcotec. They were joined by associations and other organisations including the Institute of Highway Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology and ITS UK.
