Yunex Traffic installs 101 C-ITS Roadside Units on key Czech highways

The Czech Republic is joining the ranks of leading European countries in the field of smart transport infrastructure atter Yunex Traffic Czech Republic launched its largest-ever project in the field of C-ITS (Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems) on Czech highways.

As part of this milestone, 101 Roadside Units (RSUs) from Yunex Traffic were installed on selected motorway sections – devices that enable communication between infrastructure and vehicles. The next phase of the project has now been completed and is fully operational.

This project, funded by the European Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), represents a crucial step toward improving road safety, traffic flow, and transport efficiency in the Czech Republic. For Yunex Traffic Czech Republic, it also marks the largest deployment of its own RSU technology on domestic highways.

“We are proud to have been part of such a significant project. Thanks to our technologies, transportation in the Czech Republic will not only become more modern but also safer. I believe this installation will demonstrate the enormous potential of C-ITS in practice and lay the groundwork for further development of smart mobility,” said Ing. Martin Němec, Managing Director of Yunex Traffic Czech Republic.

Yunex Traffic Czech Republic participated in the project as a partner to the system integrator, SPEL a.s., which is delivering the complete solution for the Czech Directorate of Roads and Motorways (ŘSD ČR). Yunex Traffic’s responsibilities included:

  • Preparation of the implementation study
  • Delivery, configuration, and testing of the RSUs
  • System maintenance for four years
  • Provision of additional development services
  • Post-warranty servicing

Yunex Traffic’s RSU technology enables wireless data exchange between transport infrastructure and vehicles using the standardized ITS-G5 communication protocol and modern 5G networks. This allows for the efficient transmission of alerts about accidents, icy roads, or the presence of emergency vehicles. The information is displayed in real time directly on the vehicle’s infotainment system, significantly increasing the chances of timely driver response.
