The Chair of ERTICO – ITS Europe has told a gathering at the ITS European Congress in Seville that he expects the global event in Birmingham 2027 will be a “great conference”.
Speaking at an ITS Nationals Network reception on the UK Pavilion, Angelos Amditis said that it is a testimony that the UK is part of the European family, and that the UK’s hosting is a sign of support.
“I think they’re going to be a great conference there with Chris [Lane from Transport for West Midlands] and the team, also from the UK, and also the colleagues who are doing nice things there,” he said.
On the UK’s relationship with Europe he added: “I’m very happy to see that UK is more and more promoting, again, the cooperation with Europe. I think this is a very good sign, and hopefully I can say that, since I’m not a politician, I’m looking forward to the day that this whole story of Brexit will be behind us.”
The event attracted more than an hundred guests to hear from representatives of national ITS Associations across Europe. It was organised by ITS UK and LCRIG and also heard from Chris Lane about the plans for Birmingham, which will host the event at the NEC from 25-29 October 2027.
